Canvas Prints

FAQ

I want my canvas to be a size that doesn't appear on your price list - is this possible?
Yes - just contact us before sending in your order and we'll get back to you with a price. We can make canvasses of any dimension up to our maximum size.

What's the difference between the lightweight canvas and the artists canvas?

The artists canvas is a heavier weight, has a slightly coarser weave/finish and is really is for those who prefer to have more of the 'true' canvas feel. The lightweight canvas is the most popular choice for our customers due to its attractive pricing. Because it is a lighterweight material it is slightly more transparent than the artists canvas. However, the printed results are great on both types!

What type of frame do you use?
For our standard framing, your canvas is stretched over a 1½ inch deep solid stretcher frame.

I want you to frame my print but wanted a different kind/different depth of frame - is this possible?

Yes - just contact us with your requirements prior to ordering and we'll let you know of any change to the total cost of your framed print or any delay that this may cause to the turnaround of your order.

What's 'image wrapping'?
Image wrapping (or 'gallery wrapping') is when the image is wrapped around the edge of the frame. Where this is not possible (e.g. a portrait where the head is very close to the edge of the frame size) the image will be printed on the face of the canvas and the sides of the canvas that wrap around the frame are left white. Both options look stylish - just let us know which option you'd prefer (we can guide you on this, if necessary, once we have seen your image).

How long will my order take to be despatched?
Framed prints: Typically up to 14 days from receipt of your proof approval (sooner if possible!).
Unframed prints: Typically 2 - 3 days from your proof approval.

How do I know if the quality of my photo is good enough?

We take anything from customers snapshots to professional photographs. The general rule of thumb is that the more an image is enlarged, the poorer the quality becomes. Therefore, it is essential to start with the best quality image you can . . .
digital images: must be taken at the highest setting your camera allows and then sent to us at their full size with no colour/contrast adjustments or cropping. We will prepare the images in-house. The minimum resolution for good print reproduction should ideally be in excess of 4 megapixels. However, we have achieved good results with lower res photos, so if you’re unsure of the suitability of your image, just email it to us and we’ll check it for you and advise of the maximum size it can be enlarged to.
prints: should be high quality professional prints (i.e. not produced on home inkjet / laser printers). Ideally, prints should be a minimum of 10 x 8, but we have also achieved surprisingly good results with 5 x 7 prints. Do feel free to contact us if you’re unsure.

Will the colours look the same as in my photo?

Due to the print processes involved (and many other variables between customers home equipment and our technical equipment!) we cannot guarantee exact colour matching.

Can I have special effects applied to my photo?

No problem - just let us know what effect you'd like to achieve and we'll endeavour to produce it!

What about copyrighted images?
By placing your order for a particular image you are acknowledging that you either own the copyright to that particular image or have express permission from the copyright owner to reproduce it in the form of a canvas print.
